About Alex
Alex Chigas grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, where he played volleyball for Oak Lawn Community High School and the Ultimate Volleyball Club. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He now works in television as a casting producer.
His coaching career began with PrimeTime Volleyball Club in Champaign, IL in 2011 and with over 10 years of coaching experience, he made is way to Sunshine.
Alex’s coaching philosophy centers on the “mental game,” emphasizing movement, ball control, and overall awareness. He focuses on what players do when they don’t have the ball, helping them develop a stronger court presence and deeper strategic understanding. His goal is not only to improve his players’ athletic skills but also to build their teamwork and self-confidence.
Alex co-founded Pride Point, an adult sand volleyball tournament and lesson organization dedicated to inclusivity, competition, and community. Pride Point provides a welcoming space for players of all levels to develop their skills, compete, and connect through the sport.
“Champions keep playing until they get it right.“
