BEACH PLYOS

Plyometrics (Plyos) tones the entire body, burns calories, and improves cardio. Plyos boost your stamina and metabolism. In addition, plyos rapidly stretch your muscles, allowing you to move more efficiently on and off the court!

Sunshine offers plyos training on the beach three times a week during the club season.

More on Sunshine's Beach Plyos

This program is designed to get players in better physical condition, provide skills that aid in quickness and agility, and also allow players to gain strength. Plyometric sand workouts help muscles contract quickly and generate work at a higher rate, so that muscles become more powerful.  Regular participation helps players even an increase in speed and reaction times!

Most Sunshine coaches require attendance at plyos sessions at least once a week.  All Sunshine players, from Pee-Wee’s up through our 18’s, will benefit from this program.

FUN FACTS

  1. Plyos was invented by a Russian doctor to train Russian athletes for the Olympics.
  2. Plyometrics means “more” and “measurement.”
  3. Plyos are directed toward the athlete’s fast twitch muscles and involves less reps and explosive movement.
  4. In the 1970’s plyos took off as an effective training tool when teams like the Dallas Cowboys starting using it and achieved great success.
  5. Sunshine has been using plyos for 20 years and when players train consistently using it, great progress occurs.
  6. Karch Kiraly, the legendary USA Volleyball coach and former Olympian, uses it as his primary tool in jump training and so does Sunshine in our beach training.
