About Taylan

Taylan Cook grew up in rural Colorado before moving to San Diego at the age of 16. He played club volleyball for COAST Volleyball club. He graduated in 2019 from Sage Creek High School in Carlsbad, CA where he played both outside hitter and libero for the Bobcats. They won the Valley League Championship in 2018 and 2019 and were the 2019 CIF/San Diego Section Open Division runner up. As a senior Taylan was CIF/San Diego Section Libero of the Year. He was also named to the AVCA First Team High School All-American, Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 Selection, and honorable mention to Volleyball Magazine High School All-American Team.

After graduation from high school Taylan played for two years at Loyola University Chicago before transferring to CSUN. He has 280 career digs with one year left to play. He was named to the 2023 Big West All-Academic Team.

He coached for COAST VBC during his senior year of high school. He has been coaching at SoCal Legends VBC since 2022. His 17-Elite team finished 5th at the 2023 AAU Nationals. This is his third-year coaching for Sunshine Volleyball Club. The 13 Westside team finished 1st in the American Division at the Salt Lake Qualifier in 2022.

Taylan’s coaching philosophy is simple to understand: there is no learning unless you’re having fun! Enjoy the game!

He loves being able to forge relationships with his players and helping to change the lives of kids who may not have enjoyed the same opportunities he has.
Taylan would like to be a D1 volleyball coach.
