Steve Astor brings over 20 years of coaching experience, spanning multiple sports, at various levels including college, high school and club to the program. His first volleyball coaching position began in 2003 and since then, he has stretched his talents into coaching both football and basketball arenas during that time as well.
Astor was hired as an assistant coach with the Pepperdine women’s volleyball team in January of 2020. In his premier season with the squad, Astor helped coach the Waves to one of the best seasons in recent years, as the team finished with a No. 20 AVCA Coaches Poll final ranking, an
NCAA Championship second round appearance, and had two players earn AVCA All-American honors.
Most recently, Astor coached as a volunteer assistant at University of Washington women’s volleyball, with primary responsibilities being placed on coaching liberos and back row defense, while also having served as in-game serve and pass coordinator. He also served a brief stint as a volunteer assistant for the UC Irvine men’s squad. Before getting into the college game, Astor served as the Head Varsity Girls Coach for Corona del Mar High School, leading his squads to an impressive 139-49 record and six League Championships from 2013-18. His teams earned recognition as a top-100 team infour out of six seasons he was at the helm.
