Head Coach

Experience

Former NCAA Division I setter with more than a decade of competitive volleyball experience.
Played collegiate volleyball at Duke University before continuing her career as a graduate transfer at University of Southern California.
Earned both the Coaches’ Award and the Prove It Award during her collegiate career.
Coached in the Sunshine Volleyball Club Westside Pee Wees program in 2024.
Currently serves as Head Coach for a middle school volleyball team at American Martyrs Elementary School.
Has additional coaching experience through volleyball camps at Duke University and the University of Southern California.
Coaching philosophy focuses on strong fundamentals, positivity, discipline, confidence, empowerment, and fostering a love for the game.
Passionate about helping young athletes develop both as volleyball players and as individuals.

About Sarah

Sarah Nelson has over a decade of competitive experience. She competed in NCAA Division I volleyball as a setter, and played at Duke University while earning her bachelors degree. After graduating, Sarah continued her career as a graduate transfer at the University of Southern California, playing two additional seasons.

Over the course of her career, she earned the “Coaches” Award and the “Prove It” Award. After college, Sarah coached at Sunshine Volleyball Club (Westside Pee Wees program) in 2024.

She is currently the head coach for a middle school team at American Martyrs Elementary School. She also helped coach summer camps while at Duke University and the University of Southern California. Sarah’s coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, positivity, discipline, empowerment, confidence, and a love for the game. Outside of coaching, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors, in her church community, tutoring high schoolers, and playing beach volleyball with her friends.
