She was recruited by Kent State University (Kent, Ohio) as a libero, although she played both libero and setter. She was a four-year starter. Sam graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is also a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor. Following a year working as a intensive care nurse she played professionally in Poland for two years.

She began coaching at 16, running clinics; she spent one summer traveling with NoEzyBuckets, hosting elite performance clinics. Sam’s coaching philosophy is built on the belief that the key to consistently performing at a high level requires the individual to take responsibility for putting their physical and mental health first. She aims to bridge the gap between holistic health and sports performance by focusing on sports nutrition, emotional intelligence, and mental performance.

She loves seeing the evolution of the athletes. She states, “Volleyball players are very intelligent and athletic, so by giving them the right resources and opportunities, they are able to elevate their game so quickly.”

Sam’s hobbies include reading, hiking, and taking a variety of fitness classes. She also enjoys playing crystal singing bowls. While her family still lives in Pennsylvania she is at home in Long Beach with her puppy, Goji, and her boyfriend.
