  • Played volleyball, as the middle blocker, during high school and university
  • Played for Iran’s national volleyball team competing in the Asian Men’s Volleyball Cup, FISU World University Games & and other international tournaments

Coaching Experience

  • Began coaching club volleyball teams while still attending school.
  • Was invited to be the assistant coach and trainer to Iran’s youth volleyball team (2008-2014).
  • His team won first place at the Asian qualifier, allowing them to participate in the first JOs in Singapore in 2010.
  • His team won the Asian Championship in 2012.
  • In 2014 his team finished fourth in the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ World Championship in Mexico.
  • Became the head coach of the Gaz Tehran team in the League 1competition in 2015.
  • Coached several club teams in the Youth Super League.
  • Named head coach in 2018 for Beheshti University of Tehran before moving to the same position at Tehran Sharif University (2019-2022).

About roy

Roy Nouri played volleyball, as the middle blocker, during high school and university. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Physical Education. He played for several years on Iran’s national volleyball team competing in the Asian Men’s Volleyball Cup, FISU World University Games and other international tournaments. In 1991 Roy was part of the World Championship team.

He began coaching club volleyball teams while still attending school; after several years he was invited to be the assistant coach and trainer to Iran’s youth volleyball team (2008-2014. His team won first place at the Asian qualifier, allowing them to participate in the first JOs in Singapore in 2010. They finished fifth.

In 2012 the team repeated their win at the Asian Championship. 2014 his team finished fourth in the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ World Championship in Mexico. In 2015 Roy became the head coach of the Gaz Tehran team in the League 1competition. From 2016-2020 he coached several club teams in the Youth Super League. Roy was named head coach in 2018 for Beheshti University of Tehran before moving to the same position at Tehran Sharif University (2019-2022). This is first year with the Sunshine Volleyball Club.

Roy’s coaching philosophy is based on him being a good role-model, teacher, trainer, and psychologist.
He loves being able to work with different age groups and seeing the progress practice brings to them.
Roy lives in Sherman oaks with his family. They have two cats; but they haven’t ben able to bring them to California, yet. He hope to have them home soon.
