About Katie

Katie Charles graduated from Juniata College (Huntingdon, Pennsylvania) with a BA in Peace Studies, Politics, and Economics. While at Juniata she played four seasons on the Eaglesโ€™ volleyball team, making three final four appearances, and winning the 2004 NCAA Division III Championship. She was selected twice to the All-Commonwealth Conference team and was named all-region and Honorable Mention All-American player in 2003.

She was the assistant coach for the menโ€™s and womenโ€™s volleyball teams at Endicott College (Massachusetts) in 2005-2006. She was also the assistant coach for the Dartmouth College womenโ€™s team for one season (2006-2007).

After spending one year as the director of volleyball operations at the University of Georgia Katie took over the head coaching position at Kenyon College (Ohio) in 2008. She was given the task of rebuilding the program; in 2010 the team posted a 13-win season, the best record in six years. Three members of the team received All-North Coast Atlantic Conference (NCAC) honors. The following year they amassed 14 wins, including eight over NACA teams, the most ever for a Kenyon team. Katie relocated to California in 2014. This is her eighth season coaching for Sunshine Volleyball Club; for the last three years she has also served as the clubโ€™s college volleyball recruiting coordinator.
