About daniel

Daniel Freeman played on the Oak Park High School volleyball team, earning all-league honors as he helped the Eagles to their first CIF Championship appearance. Daniel also played for Spectrum VBC, earning a top five club finish. Collegiately he played at Sonoma State University.

In 2006 Daniel began his coaching career at Rancho Cotate High School; he coached a few programs in Northern California before returning to Southern California. He joined the coaching staff at Moorpark College in 2014, assisting the men’s and women’s teams and helped pave the way for the Moorpark College Beach Volleyball program. Upon completion of his master’s degree in Sport Psychology at Cal State Northridge he took a teaching and coaching position at Santa Monica College.

He briefly assisted the women’s program there before committing his focus to men’s volleyball and starting the Corsair’s first beach volleyball program. He helped the men’s team to a final four appearance and led the Corsairs to a pairs’ state championship in their first year as a CCCAA sport. In his second year he guided the Conference Pair Tournament Champions and MVP as well as another pair to the elite eight where they earned 1st Team All-Conference honors.

To teach high level competition through an emphasis on building community, being present, and being process-driven is how Daniel describes his coaching philosophy.

He loves building quality relationships with the athletes and watching them grow as both athletes and individuals.

Daniel has two children, and he loves spending his free time with them.
